Work Orders Policy

Work Orders Policy

This work orders policy (“Policy”) is incorporated into the Shipwire terms of service as published on the Shipwire website (“Terms”). In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between this Policy and the Terms, the Terms shall control. All capitalized terms not otherwise defined in this Policy will have the meaning given them in the Terms.

Work Orders are non-standard hourly or piece work done on expected or held inventory. Please review the support center documentation for pricing, types of work orders and how to request a work order in your Account.

1. Work order price quotes are estimates based on information that you have provided and may not include all supplies, hours of work or unexpected work order costs. Upon approval of a work order estimate and completion of work you will be billed for all hours and supplies to complete your work order. Work orders are billed on a time and materials basis.

1.1. Labor is billed in 1 hour increments with a one hour minimum and materials are billed at cost plus 15%.

1.2. Work orders are billed on actuals. Quotations are provided for estimated purposes only. If your work orders takes less time and/or materials to complete than estimated, we will only bill you for the actual time and materials. So too, if your work order takes more time and/or materials to complete than estimated, you will be billed for the actual time and materials.

1.3. Work order based services are not provided to overcome ongoing shortcomings in manufacturer capabilities and/or services.

1.4. Shipwire understands that work order cost management is important and we provide several means for you to estimate and control costs:

1.4.1. Piecemeal. Some work orders qualify for per action pricing such as applying labels. These work orders are easy to estimate and manage costs because you control how many items should be processed. Shipwire cannot guarantee pricing on a per item basis on all work orders.

1.4.2. Guaranteed maximum price (GMP). To control costs, you can indicate the Guaranteed Maximum Price you want to pay for a work order including management fees. GMP does not guarantee that Shipwire will perform the work order for the defined GMP but rather that we will stop work if the GMP threshold is hit without a change order request by merchant.

1.4.3. Work Order Quotation. For work orders in excess of 20 hours or $500 in estimated fees, Shipwire can provide a quotation on estimated work order costs based on the instructions and information you provide. Work order quotations can range from rough calculated estimates based on defined work order parameters or detailed, fee based, time and motion study work orders. In both cases, quotations are not guaranteed but rather provide reasonable costing estimates and rough measures for establishing a work order’s GMP.

1.4.4. Fixed Price Work Orders. When Shipwire has enough information to manage the work order, fixed price work orders may be available. These work orders will be billed the agreed upon price upon completion of the work order regardless of the actual labor and material costs. Shipwire reserves the right to stop work and cancel the work order if the requirements change or were not correctly defined in the work order scope document.

1.5. Not all work orders require cost controls. You may authorize Shipwire to begin work on work orders without first obtaining estimates. Work orders will be processed according to the instructions you provide and billed, per actuals, to your Shipwire account. Any rework resulting from unclear or missing instructions or documentation will be billed as a new work order inclusive of the time and materials required to undo the previous work order to enable the rework to begin. This no-estimate service is provided to you as a service when time is more important than money.
